My father (and my uncle) used to say all my life that if I wanted to do something right, I had to do it myself. While the old saying is indeed true, there is only one person who can stretch right now. Ultimately, if I want to grow my business, I have to ask for more help.
I do a lot of activities to earn money, and Facebook is one of the main ways I do business. When I started Facebook Fanpage marketing, I started pumping money into the black hole of a Fiverr gig with nowhere to go, hoping to get the engine up and running quickly.
After reaching out to too many non-marketers promoting my stuff on their huge lists, I was almost ready to write off what quickly became the most popular outsourcing site on the web. Don’t get me wrong, Fiverr is great, but if you want to use this site anywhere, you need to know how to get through the clutter – man, what a lot of clutter there is to go through.
What performance am I talking about? You know them now, I’m sure:
“I will promote your fan page to my friends, with five dollars you will get a billion followers overnight”
“I will put a link to your website on my Facebook account and get you a lot of traffic for $5 in 30 minutes”
“I design a page for you and everyone who visits your page gives you a ‘Like’ for $5”
In my experience, the vast majority of these performances are really weak. Thank goodness I only paid five dollars at a time. But since an average gig takes more than a day, we have to keep in mind that ordering a gig will cost more than $5.
The truth is, a lot of people on Fiverr don’t understand marketing and really don’t know how to promote your Facebook page. Trust me, it’s not just about clicking a button. Anyone who sends you a screenshot of them hitting the ‘send’ button on their suggestion page has no idea what’s going on with marketing.
You really need to get more out of your money and time and not wait for someone else to “get it”. You know how much time I need to build a new fan page and fill it with content? It only takes me 20 minutes to get it up and running and I usually have a few followers within an hour.
how? Quite simply, I took the trouble to learn to follow a formula about time management and targeted products. I never spend hours fiddling with my pages, I just keep everything running smoothly and let my fans do the rest. The gist is simple: while you can do some great outsourcing with Fiverr, you’re better off managing every aspect of your fan page yourself.
